Hakko Densho Ryu Shiatsu

is a complete wellness treatment that incorporates pressure from the tip or head of the thumb to specific tsubo (pressure points), along keiraku (meridians) of the body, and specific tui na massage methods. A complete treatment creates an amazing feeling of well-being and stimulates the body's immune system and healing responses.

Just as Koho Igaku Shiatsu is a method of healing using acupressure created by Shodai Soke Okuyama, who required that his students learn how to heal as a part of his Hakkoryu Martial Arts curriculum, Hakko Densho Ryu Shiatsu uses the same principles and similar methodology but includes techniques from Zheng Gu Tui Na Massage and Qi Gong exercises.

Shiatsu is an integral part of Hakko Densho Ryu Jujutsu. Not only are specific tsubo stimulated as part of certain high-level techniques, but the complete Hakko Densho Ryu Shiatsu curriculum is a requirement for advanced rank. For more information, visit the Hakkoryu Martial Arts Federation's Shiatsu page. Many Jujutsu classes will include some shiatsu as a regular part of the class work.

Although Shiatsu Certification is a required part of the Hakko Densho Ryu curriculum, the course is open to all and no prior experience is required.
